Live music, a street party, nice weather, delicious food. Bourbon Street smells like a sewer in most parts but thankfully the smell doesn't follow you into the bars and restaurants. During the day it's nice to explore the various streets in the French Quarter.

A Shotgun House. I believe these first appeared in New Orleans, they're interesting because they are designed as a series of rooms one behind the other. To get to the bathroom for instance you may have to walk through the second bedroom!
