A few days after we got back Marta's parents were super nice and bought us extra tickets to the Muse concert (Marta's little brother Jens' birthday present) so that we could go as well. It was a really good show and Bergen in the summer is beautiful.
Marta and I stayed in bergen to find an apartment after the Muse concert and were crashing on the floor of her friend John's room at Student Housing. Luckily on the 3rd day of viewings we got a little place in a nice part of the city. We move in on August 1st so a trip to Ikea is in order after we drop some things off and take some measurements :)
Back to Lærdal after finding our apartment and we've been spending lots of time out on Marta's parents' boats. Tow surfing, fishing and even taking the big boat out for an overnight trip to UNESCO world heritage listed Nærøyfjord and the world class Ægir Brewery in Flåm, both of which are a must if you want to experience central Norway. Apparently there is a Norwegian Tapas restaurant there as well, at which you can sample lots of different traditional Norwegian dishes. I might check that out next time but luckily I get to sample a lot of Norwegian food at Marta's place so I might just go to the brewery again.
Seeing as everyone is home I went up to the mountains for a fishing trip with Marta's dad Jarle and her two brothers (Jonas and Jens). They hunt Reindeer in these mountains during season and fish for Trout the rest of the time. We did some rod fishing and I caught a 500 gram trout but most of the time we were putting nets out and taking them in again. We were extremely lucky with the weather for a couple of days as the mountain is at 1500 metres and it's not usual for it to be so warm up there. Jonas also taught me how to fly fish so I might buy a setup of my own to practice with.
That brings us up to the time of writing. Good and bad news is that I've started using my Fuji X100 so you get photos straight away. The bad part of that is that they don't develop film in Norway anymore and I don't get to use my film camera without it being a huge expense.
Tow Surfing.
Nærøyfjorden.
We had to dock in in where the ferries are because there was no space at the usual floating dock
The Ægir Brewery.
End of the night playing cards and drinking. The boat sleeps 4 comfortably. Chris, Me, Marta and Jonas.
The lake up in the mountains. We stayed in the hut in the foreground of the above picture.
More mountains.
At the shooting range for Jens' hunting test.
