Samviten Magazine, Football and Work...

So I've been writing for the Social Science Faculty student magazine called Samviten. I originally signed up just to take photos but somehow got roped into writing as well. I like the challenge and actually managed to find an easy way out of 1 of my 2 required submissions each semester by starting a recipes section. There are 3 main areas to the magazine: Society, Culutre and Faculty. I write in the first two of course, seeing as I'm not actually a student and know squat about the University. The perks are really good and for the first draft submission we all got pizza. Every few weeks we seem to have some wine going around as well!

Football finally started last weekend and we won our game 30-12 against Navy. We have a tougher team in a week but should still win :) The other good thing about football starting is that there are some games available to referee. Not many, but last week I did the game before ours and made 500kr. (nearly $100) for less than 2 hours work. Every little bit helps until I start full time at Starbucks or this Boat Repair Company around November.

I also got called into work last Friday at a bar called Rick's which is connected to an Irish pub called Finnegan's. My shift was 2100 - 0400 and I'll be working a couple of days each weekend if I want. It's pretty tough when football starts at 0900 the next morning so hopefully I can get a full time job soon. Before my last shift at Rick's though I want to check out one part of the building. Apparently the building was used as Gestapo HQ and on level 4 the cells are still preserved and unused, seeing as nobody wants to do business in there. Should be pretty interesting, another Australian that works there said it was pretty creepy.

One afternoon out at the nice sitting spot by our house.

Chicken Caldareta I made for my Samviten article.
