Cocoa Beach, FL

Home to the legendary Kelly Slater! Cocoa Beach is also home to Ron Jon Surf Shop, the biggest surf store I've ever seen (though it's more fashion than gear). It's also the only surf shop I've seen that is open a ridiculous 24 hours a day.  The surf supposedly can get pretty solid in Cocoa beach but apparently it's small and mushy most of the time. We experienced the most of the time but I was so happy to be back in the water again, especially after trying my new Ryan Lovelace She-hull that we've carted all the way from CA.

For the first couple of days we just went to the beach and then wandered around town looking for a new board for Marta. It was good to have some down time after the miles we've been clocking up. The plan was for all of us to head south but I didn't realise that Miami has little to no surf (apparently the Bahamas blocks all the swell) so I stayed in town whilst the girls went down to Miami and Key West for 5 days.

If you go to Cocoa Beach the best eats we found were Jazzy's Mainely Lobster and Seafood and A N.Y. Pizza House. I've been eating the unlimited soup, salad and Garlic Bread Knots at the pizza place because it's healthy and only $5.99.

There are no hostels or much cheap accommodation in Cocoa Beach so I had to adjust my accommodation and daily spending budget whilst the girls were down south. The cheapest room i could find was $56 per night for the exact same room at Motel 6 that the 3 of us were staying in for about $75 between us. Doesn't matter as I'm just surfing all day, eating and then going to bed to recharge for tomorrow's surf :)
