Virginia Beach, VA

Surfing! We had a free place to stay again, this time at my high school friend Laura's place. She's EC's sister and their whole family is just amazing. Laura is at Intel School learning how to do a job as a marine so isn't home much. Even if just for some hours in the evening though it was great catching up.

The surf in Virginia Beach is great, but they don't let you surf from 5th street and north to where the lifeguards aren't on patrol anymore between 1000 and 1600. It's ridiculous that they don't designate the swimmers an area like in Australia. Not only for their safety but for my surfing enjoyment's sake. We actually saw a man being rescued after losing his bodyboard/flotation device the first day.

Nevertheless we did get a few good surfs in and only my last surf was cut short by being kicked out of the water.
